5 Ways CBCF Supports Families- Beyond Gas Cards

When someone hears about the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation, they often think of gas cards. While transportation support is important, it’s only a small part of what we do. Cancer changes every part of life, and our support goes far beyond getting to appointments. Here are a few ways CBCF Walks alongside our clients and their families:

  1. Emotional Support & A Safe Place to Land- Sometimes the most powerful support is simply being heard. CBCF provides a welcoming, judgement-free space where are clients can share their fears, frustrations, and hopes.

  2. Support That’s Personal- Every cancer journey is different. We take the time to understand each family’s situation and structure our support to meet those needs- wherever they are in the journey.

  3. Connection to Resources & Advocacy- The cancer world can be overwhelming. We help our clients navigate resources, connect with additional services, and advocate when they’re unsure where to run.

  4. Consistent Support- We don’t disappear after your first visit. CBCF stays connected throughout treatment, recovery, survivorship, or loss.

  5. Connection to Community- We create opportunities for connection, reminding families they are a part of a caring community that walks this journey together.

In 2025, our Meals to Heal program delivered over 940 meals to families from Mattawa to Soap Lake, including 22 full holiday meals.

Rain or shine, our five volunteer drivers ensured each delivery brought comfort, nourishment, and a reminder that no one faces cancer alone.
