We want to help you with the road ahead
A cancer diagnosis can be frightening and bring up many questions about your immediate and long-term future. At the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation we strive to provide you and your family with a wide variety of resources to help make the road ahead easier. An old Chinese proverb says “To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.” We have many volunteers that know the road ahead because they have been there and are eager to help you through your journey.

The mission of the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation is to provide support, services, encouragement, and information to patients & families in Grant and Adams Counties with a cancer diagnosis. We strive to identify individual needs and provide help throughout the process of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. We collaborate/network with a variety of groups and agencies to expand resources for cancer patients locally.
The Foundation
Howard Gallion, a retired United Airlines pilot and his wife, Lois, moved to Moses Lake in 1993. They were surprised to learn there was no cancer treatment center in the area. After Lois Gallion died of cancer in 1998, Howard Gallion championed the idea of an area cancer treatment center to be located in Moses Lake. In November 2000, through his efforts and his donation of stock, the Moses Lake Cancer Foundation was started with a community Board of Directors.The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with a volunteer Board of Directors. We receive financial support from fund raisers, general donations, and memorial donations.Every cent of every dollar raised through the Foundation stays local.
What Do We Do?
Cancer is devastating in many ways: The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation is here to make the cancer journey easier for patients and their families by providing help and hope.We provide services and support to our neighbors with any type of cancer while they are going through treatment.The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation is also committed to educating our community about the importance of screening and prevention of cancer. This includes working with local agencies, schools, and other community groups to increase awareness and understanding.The Foundation recognizes the dream of providing tangible aid, and emotional support to patients and families dealing with cancer. Our hope is to bring the community together to support these individuals and meet their needs.
