Care Team Volunteers
Patient Services
The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation has a team of trained volunteers.
These 'angels' make up our Care Team,
offering their time and talents in many different ways.
What they do:
As a volunteer you might help a cancer patient get to treatment or the grocery store, you might deliver a meal, or help them find that perfect wig! Sometimes all it takes is making a friendly phone call to offer a listening ear or just to chat.
How to get Involved:
The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation has an increasing need for Care Team volunteers. If you are interested in being trained as a Care Team volunteer and offering support and assistance to cancer patients in Grant and Adams Counties please call Kayla Stoker at

Non-Patient Volunteers The Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation has many opportunities for those who want to give back to the community. These volunteers donate their time and talents to help the CBCF raise funds to assist cancer patients. Dinner, Dance, and Auction – The CBCF is looking for anyone that might be interested in helping to plan the next dinner, dance, and auction fundraiser in Feb 2012. Board Member – There are a few openings on the board of directors. Volunteering as a board member is a challenging and rewarding experience. As a board member you will have the opportunity to have a say in the future of the organization. If you are interested please send an e-mail to cbcfoundation@qwestoffice.net stating why you are interested in serving on the board. Please note that applicants for the board are carefully screened and must be voted on unanimously by the current board of directors. How to get Involved:

“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”

What is a memorial donation?
A memorial donation — large or small — is a donation made to commemorate a beloved friend or family member who has passed away. Some survivors specifically request that mourners make memorial gifts to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation. In some cases, mourners may make a memorial gift of their own accord.
How does the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation use memorial donations?
Memorial donations are used to help current cancer patients and their families with transportation expenses, dietary needs, emotional support, and other needs on a case by case basis. Your donation could help a family get their child to treatment, help a woman find a wig, or supply a patient with lodging while undergoing intensive treatment.
How can I make a memorial donation?
Simply send the donation to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation with a short note indicating who the gift is intended to commemorate. We will send notification of your gift (although not the amount) to the deceased’s spouse or children. We will also send an acknowledgement of the gift to you. We will also recognize your gift in our newsletter and on our website. Please let us know if you’d like your gift to remain anonymous.
How do I arrange for memorial donations to be made in honor of a recently deceased loved one?
The best way to suggest memorial donations be made is to mention it in your loved one’s obituary. If you can, include the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation’s address so that people will know where to send their gift. We can also provide brochures for you to make them available at the location of the funeral. If you can, please let us know that you plan to request memorial gifts.
